                             1155265 Leading Aircraftman Aubrey Irving Moore, 

These are two paintings owned by Stephen Moore whose father LAC Aubrey Irving Moore, 1155265, served in Balloon Command from 07/06/1940 to 07/12/1945.

Stephen has kindly allowed us to put them on the website for a wider audience, they were painted by Pete Wilson who is obviously a very talented artist.

LAC Aubrey Irving Moore, 1155265, served in Balloon Command from 07/06/1940 to 07/12/1945.

Aubrey is in the 3rd row from  the front and 3rd from the right.

What a happy crew they seem to be!

Stephen sent me his father's RAF record on Form 543. He was born on 4th June 1910 and was a Printer in Civvy street. He was described as 5 feet 11 inches with brown hair and brown eyes and a sallow complexion. He started at Cardington 0n 7th June 1940 as a Acting Charge Hand / Balloon Operator A.C.2 and had Initial Balloon Training on 28th June 1940 becoming an AC1.

 26th July 1940. He was posted to 950 squadron as a Balloon Rigger become a Balloon Operator on 3rd March 1941

 7th May 1941 he was posted to 911 squadron 

15th August 1941 Posted to No1 Balloon Training unit becoming a AC1 on 31st December 1941

18th March 1942 posted to No.2 Mobile Balloon Unit

8th November 1942 posted to 929 Squadron

15th November 1942 posted to 909/10 and 929 Squadron becoming a LAC 31st December 1942

15th November 1943 posted to 929 Squadron ending up in 909/10 squadron ending up in 994 squadron

30th November 1943 posted to 911 Squadron

30th December 1943 posted to 994 Squadron

1st February 1944 posted to 960 squadron

24th June 1944 posted to 945/7 squadron

5th July 1944 posted to 960 and 945 squadron

16th February 1944 posted to 225 Maintenance Unit

Demobbed Class "A" Release 11th Oct 1945. He certainly moved around quite a bit during WWII and saw the inside working of a large number of Balloon Barrage Squadrons.
